Calf cramps from hell

I've been experiencing occasional calf cramps in my sleep. I wake up in excruciating pain and can't move my calf which is contracted and rock hard for 10-15 seconds. The only thing I can do is to try not to move and wait for it to pass. I have read that I should keep hydrated, eat potassium-rich foods and exercise to prevent the cramps. I think that they are good practice for labor contractions because the only way I have learned to get through them is with deep breathing and relaxation.

I had one recently and it was the worst pain ever! and i actually didnt think to chalk it up as a symptom of pregnancy, but sure enough after reading your post and googling it - it is! strange this pregnancy thing. but love it none the less.

Calcium, you need calcium! When you get one, in the morning go eat a yogurt (assuming you tolerate lactose)! x, Mal
