Penny's first hair clip

Penny likes to feed herself. If only she liked cleaning up, too...

A lot of development

Penny has been learning so many new things recently. The most recent is her "waving" to people. It's cute and she does it with a limp wrist. Sometimes it seems like she understands waving bye-bye, but that's being a little hopeful.

Another thing is that she has learned how to crawl. She just got on her knees and went for an iPhone and Dawn and I looked at each other like, "she's really doing that?" We put the iPhone a little further to see if she really knew how to do it and sure enough, her desire to get the iPhone pushed her enough to crawl.

Second tooth

Penny's daycare provider, Karen, was telling me that Penny seemed to be teething again. I had been checking her bottom gums to see if the second tooth was coming in, but didn't see or feel anything. It turns out that Penny is getting a tooth, but it's not on the bottom, which are usually the two first teeth, and it is not one of the two front teeth either, usually the next to come in. Her second tooth seems to be an incisor next to the front tooth. I think her smile will soon look like that of a jack-o-lantern, about a month late for Halloween.

Rise and shine daddy!

Here is a glimpse of our weekday mornings. I get up with Penny, feed her, change her, get her dressed (if I have time) and hand her off to daddy who is sleeping - but not for long. Penny slaps his face, pulls his hair, and climbs on him until he wakes up.

Ba Ba Ba Ba

This is Penny's attempt at a consonant. As you can imagine, we are trying to teach her the "ma" and the "da" sounds.

Playing the piano

We've had this little piano book since she was born, but she's finally learned how to actually play with it. Here's a short clip of mini Chopin.

Penny travels

We got tickets for a short trip to Japan to meet the relatives 12/26-1/2! It will be an adventure with the long plane ride to and from and the flipped time zone...

Penny's pride and joy

Penny's new thing, which is keeping her from sleeping, is pushing herself from tummy to sitting position. Whenever we go to check on our hollering baby that we intended to put to sleep, she is sitting up in her crib sucking her thumb and upon seeing us, she gives a wide grin. We know that she is able to go back down from a seated position, but she chooses to stay sitting-up in her crib until someone comes. She is even more proud if/when we give-up on having her sleep and take her out of her crib. The huge smile/snicker that she displays while being carried down the stairs, after being "rescued" from a nap, is like no other.
