Third trimester begins

I am at 28 weeks now which according to the book, is the beginning of the third trimester. For the baby, this stage is about fattening up and brain development.
This morning started with a dream about being hungry and actual hunger at 4:30 am. This is the first time that I had to eat something in the middle of the night. If this is a sign of how the next few months will be, it looks like I will be packing on some pounds! Look out, big mamma is coming through!

Upstaged by baby

With this holiday season came a reminder of the upcoming chapter in my life; parenthood. Many Christmas and birthday gifts I received were baby-related or baby-centric. I realize how much fun it is to buy gifts for little ones and I am happy for the excitement around my pregnancy, but baby isn't here yet. So I will take this opportunity to enjoy the last few months of ME-time. Soon, everything will be about the baby!

bye bye belly button

I am mourning the loss of my innie belly button, which is now flat. Flat is good for one reason, it doesn't show through my clothes. So my round, protruding belly isn't interrupted by a hole or a bump of a belly button. Soon, it will probably flip out and I will either need to figure out a way to cover it or proudly display it to the world.

Unusual names

Apparently, Minkz and I like unusual names, perhaps because of our own unusual names. We looked our names up on the Social Security Website and neither of our names are popular. We are not giving away what our name picks are, but we rejected a couple of girl names that we liked based on the fact that they are on the 2007 list of most popular baby names. We are thinking of giving an American first name and a Japanese middle name.

it's official

We gave our 30-day notice and signed a lease for the San Mateo townhouse. Now, we have to make our apartment available for showings. It looks like we will move on the 2nd. Any help moving would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I had my first appointment with the midwife today. I clarified the due date as 3/23, which means that my disability starts 2/23. Let the countdown begin!

We decided on the San Mateo townhouse as the best choice for our family and we will probably be moving in early January. This was a difficult decision for both of us, because we love where we live. Minkz is having an especially difficult time accepting the idea of a new lifestyle, so please be supportive of him if you can.

Dear Baby in my belly,

You may have noticed that I have not been sleeping well lately. I will have to remember not to have any caffeine after noon. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I feel you move and I get excited, too. Also, your dad had a dream about football and grabbed my head in the middle of the night last night. Sorry, if we startled you. Let's hope to get a good night's sleep tonight.
