Baby stuff

I am totally overwhelmed by what to get for the baby. It seems like there are many things needed and so many options for each thing. I wish someone could just tell me exactly what to get... As far as I am concerned, all we really need at first is a car seat, some clothes and lots of diapers, right?
Right now, we have an empty baby room with just a few things that have been given to us (in pic above). Instead of helping me to figure this out, dad-to-be is watching football before taking his vacation to NY...

update (Sun afternoon): Luckily, a friend sent me a list of top ten items for newborns and I got a baby registry started at Babies R Us.

Sounds like a good start! Just don't forget things for you, like cotton nursing bras & pads (and the other kind of pads unfortunately.) Essentials for baby: onesies, receiving blankets, burp rags, newborn diapers (don't get too many until you know how big baby is), Seventh Generation makes baby wipes, or you can just wet soft cloths or gauze, baby laundry detergent (wash clothes/blankets before using on baby), bottles and cleaning brush if you plan to pump. You can usually rent a hospital-grade breast pump to try out before purchasing one. If you do get one, I'd recommend Medela or Ameda. So excited!! You look great!

If it's a boy, you'll need a "pee blocker" or "peepee teepee"
