Overall, it was a fun trip with some attempted hiking (we turned back because of threatening rain) and quality time with the grandparents.

Mammoth
Minkz had a week of forced vacation so we planned a short trip to Mammoth with the Pollaks. It was a good test of travel-with-Penny. The 6-hour car ride turned out fine with only a couple of stops each way and the baby sleeping comfortably most of the time. The day-time at Mammoth was per usual, a delicate routine of nursing before going out and whenever else she demanded. The night-time turned out to be the biggest challenge. I am not sure if she was displeased with the foreign crib or if we were just woken at times when we normally wouldn't hear her at home, but we were up much more frequently than usual...
Overall, it was a fun trip with some attempted hiking (we turned back because of threatening rain) and quality time with the grandparents.

oh my god. that picture of penny with your dad - the look on penny's face! so many captions could be had of it..i think i looked at it over and over again just to keep chuckling. glad the trip was relatively easy. it's something i have been thinking about for us later on too, since i love camping and road trips. so it's good to know it can be done.
